Linear IT Solutions was started on the coattails of a devastating story. A small business owner, ex-Columbus Police Department officer Rick Shantery, died tragically in a motorcycle accident in September of 2016. With no contingency plan in place for the company, and having it tied up in the courts and with an ex-wife, the existing customers were being left high and dry for their IT services. In order to continue servicing them and not leave any clients behind, Scott Verbus and Dan Hill continued to work, unpaid, in order to keep everyone up and running. In November of 2016, Scott established Linear IT Solutions. In January of 2017 Linear began operations and continues to support these central Ohio businesses.

In year one of operations, Linear employed three engineers and technicians and recently hired a fourth; even providing them with HRA benefits. The company turned a profit in year one and is continuing to grow. The client base grew 173% from the defunct company’s assumed client list just in the first year. Linear’s business model is simple. We streamline – linear, clean lines. After spending the first nine months of business “fixing” the existing clients – correcting infrastructure and security – we found ourselves with less work to do since no one seemed to have dire break/fix concerns to bring to us. At that time, we realized we needed to hit the marketplace hard to gain new clients in order to continue to prosper.

We take on a new client, fix them up, get their networks running independently, and then let their business thrive. We like to view ourselves as a business partner not a vendor. We want to see our clients succeed and we have found the best end results are those clients that work with us, not against us, to create the environment they need.
